President’s Message – May 2026

Strength, Growth, and a Season of Opportunity

May is a time of year many of us in the home building industry look forward to. It marks the start of a busy season, when ideas take shape, projects move forward, and our work becomes more visible across our communities. Every year starts a little differently, conditions shift and challenges evolve but what remains constant is the resilience of our members and the pride we take in building and improving the places people call home. That’s what makes this season meaningful and carries a sense of optimism into the months ahead.

That momentum is on full display during one of our most anticipated events of the year, the Spring Parade of Homes. Taking place May 9th–10th and 16th–17th, the Parade offers the public a chance to experience the craftsmanship, innovation, and attention to detail that define our industry. It’s also a moment to recognize the effort that goes into bringing this event to life. A sincere thank you to the Parade Committee for their time, leadership, and dedication.

We also extend our thanks to all of our event sponsors, whose partnership plays a critical role in the success of this event. A special thank you to our premier sponsor, Thornton, whose leadership support helps elevate the Parade and set the standard for this event.

While new homes take the spotlight during the Parade, May also marks National Home Remodeling Month. This is a time to recognize the growing impact of remodeling in today’s housing market. Here in Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities, we continue to see strong demand for projects that help homeowners reimagine and improve their spaces. Whether it’s updating a kitchen, finishing a basement, or completing a full home transformation, remodeling adds value, improves functionality, and allows families to stay in the homes they love.

Looking ahead, that work will take center stage again this fall during the Showcase of Remodeled Homes on October 3rd and 4th. Registration is now open, and we’re calling on all remodelers and landscapers to participate. This is your opportunity to showcase your work and inspire homeowners, scan the QR code below to register your project today.

This spring also gave us another opportunity to grow and connect through the Power Breakfast Series. We recently wrapped up another successful season, and it remains one of the most valuable ways to start the day. A special thank you to First PREMIER Bank for powering this series. The conversations and relationships built during these breakfasts go far beyond business. They challenge us to think differently, lead more effectively, and show up better not just in our work, but at home and in our communities. Opportunities like this don’t just help us grow professionally, they shape who we are as people.

Moments like these, whether it’s the Parade, remodeling projects, or a simple early morning conversation are what make our association strong. They remind us that what we do is bigger than any one project or business. It’s about building communities and supporting one another.

If you’re looking for a way to be part of that momentum, I encourage you to get involved. Whether it’s volunteering during the Parade, participating in events, or connecting with fellow members, your involvement makes a difference. It strengthens your business and helps ensure a strong future for the home building industry in the Sioux Empire.

Honoring Our Foundation. Building Forward.

President, Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire
