President’s Message – March 2026

Leadership That Builds More Than Homes

Leadership in our industry isn’t measured only by the homes we build; it’s measured by the standards we set, the workforce we develop, and the voice we carry when decisions affecting housing are made.

Homebuilding shapes communities, fuels economic growth, and creates opportunity for families, entrepreneurs, and skilled professionals. None of that happens in isolation. It happens because of a strong industry and a strong association working together with purpose. March serves as a reminder of that collective strength and the responsibility we carry as leaders within it.

March is also Women in Construction Month, a time to recognize the women across our association who contribute at every level of this industry. From builders and designers to project managers, lenders, marketers, and skilled trade professionals, their leadership and expertise elevate the standard of excellence in housing. Their impact is visible in every project, every team, and every success story, and you will find a dedicated feature in this issue highlighting their contributions and the difference they make in our industry.

We recently wrapped up another successful Sioux Empire Home Show, one of the most visible platforms our association provides to showcase the professionalism and innovation of our members. The energy on the show floor reflected the strength and confidence of our industry. When we come together under one roof, we demonstrate to the public what it means to work with trusted, skilled professionals. That visibility reinforces consumer confidence and strengthens the reputation of our entire membership.

As one major event concludes, we now shift our focus to the Parade of Homes. Builders are reminded that the deadline to register homes is March 19. The Parade is more than a marketing opportunity; it is a statement about quality construction, thoughtful design, and the leadership of our members in the marketplace. It is another powerful way our association collectively demonstrates what sets us apart and why professionalism matters.

Beyond our signature events, the real strength of this association lies in the year-round value we provide. Education remains a core pillar of our mission, and through Lunch & Learns, workshops, and our POWER Breakfast series, we are committed to equipping members with practical tools and forward-thinking insight. Professional growth is not optional in today’s environment; it is essential. Markets shift, consumer expectations evolve, and technology advances, so staying engaged ensures our members remain competitive, informed, and prepared.

Workforce development is equally critical and requires active participation from all of us. At the end of this month, we will host Frame the Future, one of our most important outreach initiatives. This event connects students with hands-on experiences in the building trades and introduces them to the many career opportunities available within our industry. The future workforce will not build itself; it will be shaped by the time, mentorship, and leadership we invest today. I strongly encourage members to volunteer, sponsor, host stations, and engage directly with the next generation because this is where long-term industry strength begins.

Alongside education and workforce development stands advocacy, which remains foundational to our success. As the legislative session wraps up, your association continues to monitor legislation, engage with policymakers, and advocate for housing affordability, responsible growth, and policies that protect your ability to build. Advocacy may not always be visible work, but it safeguards the environment in which we operate and ensures our industry remains positioned for continued strength.

The building industry remains strong, demand continues, and innovation continues, but leadership must continue as well. That leadership starts with us as builders, associates, and engaged members of this association. When we stay informed, stay engaged, and stay united, we protect our industry and strengthen our future.

Thank you for your continued involvement in the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire.
