President’s Message – April 2026

Celebrating New Homes. Shaping the Future.

April marks New Homes Month, a time when our industry celebrates the homes we build and the communities we help shape. For builders and industry professionals across the Sioux Empire, this season carries a special kind of energy. It signals the beginning of one of the most exciting times of the year as we prepare for the Parade of Homes.

There is always a sense of anticipation leading into the Parade. Months of planning, design, and craftsmanship begin to come together, and the result is something our entire industry can be proud of. For our members, it’s an opportunity to showcase the talent and dedication that goes into every home. For the public, it’s a chance to experience the innovation, creativity, and quality that define the building industry in our region.

New Homes Month is also a reminder that what we build extends far beyond the walls of a house. We build neighborhoods, opportunities, and the foundation for families to grow and thrive. That kind of impact requires not only great builders, but a strong association working to support and advance the industry.

That is exactly the work your HBASE leadership recently focused on. The Board of Directors stepped away from our daily responsibilities and gathered for a day and a half of focused strategic planning, intentional time set aside to do what every strong organization must do: pause, reflect, and look ahead.

In an industry that moves as quickly as ours, it is easy to stay focused on the work right in front of us. But true leadership requires something more. It requires asking the bigger questions: Where are we going? What does the future of housing in the Sioux Empire look like? And how can our association continue to lead the way?

Around the table were board members representing every corner of the building industry, builders, and associates, whose work touches every phase of the homes and communities we create. The conversations were thoughtful, honest, and forward-looking. Together, we discussed not only the challenges our industry faces, but the opportunities ahead and how our association can continue to strengthen its impact.

One of the most meaningful outcomes of that process was the development of a renewed Vision and Mission that will help guide the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire into the future.

Our Vision Statement sets the direction:

Leading the building industry in the Sioux Empire through Workforce Development, Advocacy, and Community Engagement.

From my perspective as president, this vision represents more than an aspiration, it represents a responsibility. A responsibility to invest in the next generation of skilled professionals who will carry this industry forward. A responsibility to advocate for policies that protect housing opportunities for families across our region. And a responsibility to remain deeply connected to the communities we help build every day.

Our Mission Statement defines how we move that vision forward:

Serve as the leading voice to advance housing by engaging our membership in all aspects of the building industry.

At the center of both statements is a simple but powerful truth: our members’ matter.

The strength of this association has always come from the individuals and companies who choose to get involved, share their expertise, and invest their leadership in the future of our industry. Engagement is what gives our association its voice, its momentum, and its ability to move the industry forward.

As we celebrate New Homes Month and look ahead to another incredible Parade of Homes, I’m excited about what the future holds for this association and the role our members will continue to play in shaping it.

Honoring Our Foundation. Building Forward.
