For seven decades, the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire has been a steady, influential force in shaping the growth of our region. Through changing markets, economic cycles, and generations of leadership, the Association has remained a trusted voice for the building industry, advocating for housing, supporting professionals, and strengthening the communities we serve.
Our timeline reflects a legacy of resilience and forward momentum. Established in 1956 as the Home Builders Association of Sioux Falls, the organization united builders around shared standards, ethical practices, and a commitment to quality construction. From the beginning, the Association was defined by leadership and innovation, launching many “firsts” that continue to shape its identity today.
Those early years gave rise to cornerstone events that remain hallmarks of the Association, including the first Home Show, the first Parade of Homes, the first Repair Affair, and the first Showcase of Remodeled Homes. These initiatives not only elevated the industry but also strengthened connections with consumers and the broader community, demonstrating a commitment to meeting members and the public where they are and building trust through engagement.
As the Sioux Empire grew, so did the Association. New programs, signature events, and educational initiatives were introduced to meet the evolving needs of a broader, more diverse membership. The transition to the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire marked an important milestone, recognizing that our strength extends beyond a single city and is rooted in regional partnership and shared purpose.
Throughout each decade, the Association has adapted with intention, expanding advocacy efforts, investing in education and workforce development, and responding to change with clarity and leadership. Each chapter of our history reflects a balance of honoring tradition while embracing progress, ensuring relevance in a constantly evolving industry.
Now, as we celebrate our 70th year, we are building on that legacy with clarity and confidence.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Association is introducing a refreshed brand identity that honors our past while positioning us for the future. The new logo and visual system reflect the professionalism, innovation, and regional leadership that define the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire today. This update is not a change in direction, but a clearer expression of who we have become.

Shaped through thoughtful input from industry leaders and members across the building community, the refreshed brand was guided by a simple goal: to ensure our identity aligns with the strength, relevance, and momentum of the industry we represent.
Because this brand touches many areas of the Association, its rollout will be introduced gradually throughout the first part of the year. Members will see updates across digital platforms, events, signage, and outreach efforts as each element is implemented with care and consistency.
A key component of this transition is a fully redesigned website, currently under development. Designed to better serve members, consumers, and future professionals, the new site will feature improved navigation, a more accessible member directory, and enhanced pages for signature events such as the Sioux Empire Home Show, Parade of Homes, and Showcase of Remodeled Homes.
The refreshed brand also reinforces our long-standing commitment to education, workforce development, and industry awareness, priorities that have been central to the Association’s mission since its earliest days. From classrooms and career fairs to digital platforms and community events, the Association will continue showing up with purpose, sharing a message rooted in experience and focused on opportunity.
The Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire has never stood still. Our history is one of leadership, adaptation, and connection, qualities that continue to guide us forward. As we roll out this refreshed brand, we do so with pride in our past and confidence in what lies ahead. With the continued support of our members, we are carrying 70 years of progress into the future, building an Association that remains strong, relevant, and ready for the next generation.
Seventy years deep. Still evolving. Still leading.
