Recent Jobsite Theft Reports

When a construction jobsite has a reported theft, the HBASE office is informed of the general details. This is in an effort to spread awareness about this ongoing problem in our community. Use this as a reminder to keep your jobsite secure at all times.

Below is the list of recently reported jobsite thefts in the Sioux Falls area at residential construction jobsites. The HBASE office does not have additional information than what is posted below.

 

Southeast part of Sioux Falls (June2017)

  • Suspects cut off the lock on the job trailer and stole approximately $4,500 in tools. The tools' serial numbers were tracked by the contractor and reported to police.
    • Suggested tip: Back the trailer up to the garage or side of the house so even if they break off the lock, they can't gain access into the trailer. 

Southeast part of Sioux Falls (May 2017)

  • Suspects cut off the lock on the job trailer and stole up to $3,000 in tools. No serial numbers were tracked by the contractor.
    • Suggested tip: Back the trailer up to the garage or side of the house so even if they break off the lock, they can't gain access into the trailer. 

Southeast part of Sioux Falls (May 2017)

  • Suspects gained entry into an unsecured building under construction. They stole the entire job box that contained over $8,000 in tools.
    • Suggested tip: Secure the job box at the end of each night inside a locked trailer.  Or consider installing surveillance cameras onsite.

Northwest part of Sioux Falls (May 2017)

  • Suspects cut off the lock on the job trailer and stole up to $3,000 in tools. No serial numbers were tracked by the contractor but tools were engraved with a marking.
    • Suggested tip: Back the trailer up to the garage or side of the house so even if they break off the lock, they can't gain access into the trailer.
