Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Parade home?
A Parade home is a newly constructed residential home. Although most Parade homes are 100% complete, others are still in the construction phase but are safe to tour. The purpose of the Parade is for our builder members to show off their work, allow the public to meet the builders of the homes and to get ideas for their next home-related project.
What are the Parade Hours?
The event runs from 1:00PM - 5:00PM (Saturdays and Sundays) on September 15-16 & 22-23, 2018.
Where do I buy tickets?
Tickets are not required for this event.
What does it cost to tour homes?
All regular homes are free to tour. When available, Feature Homes require a $5 entry. Feature homes are fundraisers for the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation. Entry is paid at the entrance of each Feature Home. Cash or checks accepted.
How do I plan which homes I want to visit?
Pick up a FREE copy of Home Ideas magazine at all Hy-Vee locations in Sioux Falls which lists information, maps and images of each participating home....or download the list of homes and maps by clicking here.
You are welcome to begin at any home on the event and you do not need to visit the homes in numerical order. Homes are simply numbered in order of location but don't indicate a required order to follow.
Are all homes open during the event?
All homes are open during the event unless they are noted as 'CLOSED' or 'NOT AVAILABLE TO TOUR' on our website. The event website hosts the most up-to-date list of homes to tour.
Is this a kid-friendly event?
Children are allowed in the homes, however please be considerate and keep children near you at all times. Remember that this is someone’s personal home (or will be soon) and you are a guest in their home. The bathrooms are for display only and should not be used for personal use.
Is photography allowed in the homes?
When entering a Parade home, please ask the builder or representative in the home for permission before taking photos. This event is a great place to gather ideas for your own home but remember that these professionals put in many hours of work into creating these homes and if they ask that no photographs be taken, please be considerate of their request.
Are shoes allowed in the homes?
In most homes it is requested that attendees remove their shoes and cover their feet. Due to this, consider wearing shoes that are easy to slip on and off and bring socks with you.
Are food and drinks allowed?
Please refrain from bringing food or drinks into the homes.
Are the homes for sale?
Some homes are available to purchase and others are pre-sold where the new owners will move into the home directly after the event ends. Feel free to ask the builder upon entering the home. If you’ve found your dream home but it’s already sold, be sure to visit with the builder as often times they’ll be willing to build a similar home on a different lot.
