Tools for Schools
The Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire (HBASE) is committed to working with area schools to educate students about the vast number of career choices in the housing industry. One of the HBASE programs that promotes the residential construction industry as a growing and successful potential career is Tools for Schools program.
Each year the HBASE and its Care Foundation are proud to offer a grant opportunity to high schools within Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner counties. This grant allows the chosen high school to purchase a tool or equipment that will improve the safety or further the knowledge of the students in the building trades classes.
Since the program began in 2006, the Care Foundation has granted over $47,000 in tools and equipment to area schools.
Local schools such as Tri-Valley, Sioux Falls O'Gorman, Brandon Valley, Canistota, Tea, West Central, Sioux Falls and McCrossan Boys Ranch have all recently received grants for tools that include a Sawstop Tablesaw, Mittersaw, Drill Press, Scroll Saw, Downdraft Table, Nailer and much more. Grant values have ranged from $500 to $4,000.
