Members of the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire play a critical role in helping shape the Association’s governmental policies.  The HBASE Government Affairs Program strives to influence and advocate for public policies at the local, state, and federal levels of government that directly affect the housing industry.  Members help shape policy objectives by their active participation in the following HBASE committees:

HBASE Local Government Affairs Committee

  • Reviews developer/builder issues at the municipal and county levels of government (meets monthly)

HBASE Legislative Committee

  • Reviews/monitors state and federal legislation (meets weekly during South Dakota Legislative Session)

HBASE Codes Committee

  • Reviews updates to the International Residential Code and recommends when appropriate local amendments (active in code cycle years)

Sioux Empire Friends of Affordable Housing PAC

  • The local Political Action Committee affiliated with HBASE, supports candidates for public office (meets as needed)
